A life-long party enthusiast who loves the unique and timeless character of New Orleans, Emily Shaya looked forward to picking out sophisticated and stylish decorations and furniture for her 2012 wedding reception. Though Emily had lived in New Orleans for almost ten years, she could not find a vendor with the type of inventory she was looking for: everything she saw looked tired and dated—and not in the chic, timeless way she was looking for.

Fortunately, in 2012 Emily was not only a bride, but also a student at Tulane University’s business school, working to earn her MBA. Inspired by both her classes and her frustrating search for the perfect wedding-day décor, Emily decided to start her own event rental business. Emily’s goal was to provide future New Orleans brides, convention hosts, backyard barbeque-ers, and other celebrants with high quality and gorgeous party rentals. She knew that brides and party planners would also want vintage rentals in the same style that New Orleans destination wedding planners could rent in their home markets or similar to what they’ve seen on the vintage wedding blogs.

Emily’s passion for quality antique and vintage furniture was passed down to her from her mother. She has been developing her eye for aesthetics since she was a child, and loves finding the perfect pieces to add to Pret a Fete’s inventory.
